Introduction to Computer (7th Grade)

All seventh grade students take a year-long course on computing that alternates with their foreign language course. This is a non-leveled course. Students learn the Google Suite of products including Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Gmail, In addition, students will learn the basics of computer hardware, graphic design, coding, video editing and music production.  The eighth course takes a more in-depth look at programs from the prior year as well as introducing coding languages and robotics programming among other tools.

Computer II Class (8th Grade)

The purpose of this class is to take the eighth-grade student deeper beyond the current Technology and Engineering, and computer curriculum in order to provide in-depth learning of computer coding and applications using hands-on activities and project-based learning. The focus will be on basic mechanical engineering concepts and programming, using accessible technologies appropriate for middle school students.

Activities will include (but not be limited to):

  •        Programming with Scratch
  •        Video editing and design with Windows Movie Maker
  •        Programming robots with Arduino block-based programming
  •        3D design using SketchUp, creating 3D prints or prototypes
  •        Python programming
