Nashua Catholic Regional Junior High School August Newsletter, August 2, 2006
“In you is the source of life and in your light we see light” (Psalm 36)
Dear Parents and Students,
Nashua Catholic is off and running as we approach the start of another school year. As a new Principal, I am blessed with a very dedicated and competent administrative and professional staff. The transition has been an easy one for me. There are still a few things I need to become familiar with, but as the year moves along, we will all become more acclimated to life here at NC.
I am happy to report that staffing for the 2006-07 school year has been nearly completed. I have already hired two veteran teachers in the History and English areas, a new Spanish teacher, and am confident about having a new Science teacher in place shortly.
*Important Health Care notice: Please be advised that any student who may have need, during the school day, to take any type of acetaminophen or ibuprofen medications must have a doctor’s note of approval “on file” in the Health Office.
School Notes/Teacher Announcements:
In the realm of extra-curricular activities, our Wildcat Theatre Club is currently seeking new direction for our annual Fall Musical. We invite any parent who has expertise in the musical production area or who may know of anyone who has expertise in this area to become involved in helping to make this annual student-centered event a continued and worthwhile success.
Mrs. Pinsonneault would like to serve as advisor to the Writing Club and also would be interested in initiating a String Ensemble group. Interested students are encouraged to join.
Art Students (per order of Mrs. McCullough) are advised, this year to bring a “spiral bound “ (i.e., no lined paper) notebook to class this year.
Pertinent Information for Parents and Students:
Enclosed you will find a host of materials you will need for the opening of school. Note that the first day for all students is August 30. Students will be required to be in full uniform. As students will be receiving their locker assignments the first day of school, they may want to bring their books that first day as time will be made available to store personal belongings in the lockers.. Celebrations, our school caterer, will have an “a la carte” menu available for students who are, as yet, undecided about bringing their lunch to school. Also, note that Friday September 1 is the beginning of the Labor Day recess (No School on Friday and the following Monday!)
Please see the enclosed form regarding email addresses. I will continue the past practice of sending future newsletters and/or other pertinent info to you via email. If you (i.e., 7th grade parents) haven’t sent us your email as yet please do so; if you (i.e., this year’s 8th grade parents) have an email address different from last year, please let us know of the change.
To aid in your future planning, be advised that Wednesday evening (September 13) has been set aside for our annual Parent’s Back to School Night! You will have an opportunity to experience the joys of following your child’s school schedule. We promise no tests or quizzes!!
One of our great “fun” fundraisers-The Cow Maneuver- is scheduled for September 30 (rain date October 1). “Cow Deeds” will be available in the main office and/or will be given out to students the first day of school.
Please note the school year calendar, athletic tryout schedules and health letter (to be filled out and returned to the Health Office) are enclosed.
Bus tickets will be sent to your home in the form of a postcard.
The Varsity Book Site is up and running well! Please remember that the address is www.varsitybooks.com We suggest that books be purchased early. We also would like to clarify for 7th grade students that the 700 classes have no required books. Calculators and goggles that are required are necessary. If your student has a calculator it must be a scientific calculator to work for his courses. NO instruction is given on brands other than the one sold by Varsity. Finally, the Agenda for each student will be handed out as the year begins. In the past the parents have individually purchased these but this year they will be furnished by Nashua Catholic. Please note they contain the handbook which has a mandatory sign and return page for the first week of school.
