General Info on Basketball

We support an ‘A’ and ‘B’ for both boys and girls.  Basketball is very competitive.  We typically have 40-50 boys sign up for tryouts and 30 or more girls.  The boys have stayed with an ‘A’ team for eighth graders and ‘B’ team for seventh graders.  This is not a rule, but guidelines from previous years. The girls however have very integrated with seventh and eighth graders for each team, all dependent on skill level.

Teams usually have 12-14 players per team.  We have several days for a tryout period.  Games are typically played on Monday and Thursday, practicing 2 out of the remaining 3 weekdays.  Game times are usually 3:30 starts.  Court times for practice run between 2:30 (dismissal) and 7p.  Typical practice times is 90 minutes.

The season runs from the first week of November to the week before our Winter Break, the third week of February.  The teams play a 12-14 game schedule set-up by the Tri County League.  We also play a few non league games with area schools.  We also compete in the post season NH Catholic Schools Basketball Tournament, usually held here at Nashua Catholic JHS.
