G.O.A.L.S Program

We are pleased to offer the G.O.A.L.S (Guided Organization, Assignments, and Learning Skills) Program this year.  This program is for students who would like to strengthen organizational, homework completion, and study skills.  Concerned parents may arrange a staffing with teachers and administrators to identify the student’s individual needs.  Once a need for the program is identified, students will meet with the G.O.A.L.S teacher as often as needed, as determined by the student’s parents and teachers.  The program is available by appointment from 3:30-5:30pm.  On days when there are teacher workshops or meetings, the G.O.A.L.S program will not meet.

During the program, the G.O.A.L.S teacher will:

             a.  Assess the student’s current method of organization/time management and make

suggestions for improvement, and assist the student in implementing those changes.

            b.  Check the student’s agenda book daily to see if all assignments are written down

clearly (and initialed by the subject teacher(s) if necessary).  It is the STUDENT’S

                 job to write down assignments.

            c.  Check to see if the student has all of the needed materials to do his or her homework.

If necessary, the students will get these materials from his or her locker.

            d.  Monitor the student’s homework completion and assist as needed.

(**Note:  The student will be referred to the subject teacher for extra help sessions

                      when needed.)

            e.  Write comments to the parents in the student’s daily log book.  It is essential that the

student bring his or her log book to G.O.A.L.S for each session!

Fees:  $10 per hour or any part of an hour your child is in the program.

School rules still apply while in the program.  Students will still be required to serve supervised study time for missing homework.  The G.O.A.L.S teacher will be in close contact with your child’s subject teachers to address any issues.  It is our hope that this program will help your child to reduce time spent in supervised study (for missed assignments) and to improve his or her grades through thorough homework completion and good study habits.  Please email Deb Matson-Champagne at dmatson-champagne@ncrjhs.org with any questions.
