World Language Department

The world languages department strives to present a balanced approach to language incorporating speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Communication skills are stressed in French and Spanish in addition to introducing the French-speaking and Spanish-speaking cultures of the world.

We have found that students arrive at Nashua Catholic with a WIDE variety of non-English language experiences. To allow students to make an informed decision about language for eighth grade, all seventh grade students take "World Language", a semester-long class that introduces French and Spanish. In eighth grade, students select either French or Spanish to study for a full year. This study is equivalent to the first year of language at the high school level.
