Dear Parents and Students,
Here we are in the final leg of the 2006-2007 school year.
Now that our Terra Nova testing is over, we can focus on the
remaining activities in May and the final weeks of the year
in June.
Our Annual Spring Fling Dance is scheduled for May 11 and
the Annual Science Fair will follow on May 15. Our 5th and
final school wide Mass is slated for May 17 - parents, of
course, are invited to attend. Progress reports will be
issued on May 18, so parents, especially parents of 8th
graders, are reminded to carefully monitor their child's
progress as we get closer and closer to graduation. We will
have an Early Release Day for students on May 25 as that day
has been reserved for staff development. Students will be
dismissed at the usual time of 12:15 PM.
Looking ahead to June, our Graduation Dance will be June 8,
Graduation Practice will be June 12 with Graduation
scheduled for June 14. All important information pertaining
to our summer school and athletic camps are posted on the
school website as well as in the news posted below.
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a
few concerns. This year's Annual Nashua Catholic Fashion
Show was very successful in many ways. It was great fun and
through your participation and generosity we were able to
meet a portion of our fundraising goals. However in our FUND
- A- NEED promotion, we fell short of our goal of $30,000 to
help fund new lockers for our students. Through years of
usage, many of our present lockers are non functional.
Students are not able to place their belongings in a locker
whereby they can be sure their belongings are safe and
secure.
On a different note, as many of you know, Nashua Catholic
was accredited this year by the New England Association of
Secondary Schools and Colleges. To maintain this prestigious
designation, we must continue to meet specific requirements
and recommendations set forth by the NEASC. One of these
requirements is to upgrade our Library services and
resources. We are in the process of installing electrical
outlets in the library to hopefully accommodate 5 new
computer stations in the near future - at this point in
time, we will not be able to purchase 5 computers. We have
also investigated purchasing Library Software which will not
only allow us to catalogue and codify our library materials,
but will also allow us to network with computer stations in
individual classrooms thus making library research
accessible to all students at any time. The NEASC also
strongly recommends that we integrate other technologies
into our daily classroom activities - such as using
multimedia projectors for faculty and/or student powerpoint
presentations.
All of these items, of course, cost money. We are presently
in a cycle of lower enrollments and tight budgets. Nashua
Catholic does not have a lot of disposable income to
purchase all that we need. If either you, or anyone you may
know, can help us out in any way, shape or form to meet the
above-mentioned needs, we would be forever grateful. For
example, if your businesses or companies have any surplus or
multimedia projectors that need to be replaced - and are in
sound working order- we would certainly find a home for them
here at Nashua Catholic. Naturally any monetary donations to
help us defray the costs of meeting the above-mentioned
NEASC recommendations would also be greatly appreciated.
Kindly keep Nashua Catholic and our needs in your thoughts
and prayers as we try our best to navigate the waters of
these uncertain financial times.
Graduation News - Open Letter from Mrs. McFadden:
Dear Parents of 2007 Graduates:
This year, graduation will be on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at
Immaculate Conception Church, Nashua, NH. No tickets will be
issued. Please have your student arrive no later than 5:30
P.M. Mass will begin at 6 PM.
Respectful dress is required underneath the graduation gown.
The attire requirements for graduation reflect the Catholic
virtue of modesty. Modesty is the virtue by which we express
respect for others and ourselves by the way we dress, speak,
and act. Please be mindful that we will have Celebration of
the Liturgy.
Graduation gowns will be distributed on Monday, June 7, 2007
during homeroom. Please hang this gown up as soon as it gets
home. These gowns should not be ironed, and need a few days
of hanging to be wrinkle free.
The graduation practice will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from
10 A.M. until 11:30 AM. at Immaculate Conception Church. You
must arrange for transportation for your student to and from
the church for graduation practice. Please be prompt; I have

build our Library and purge outdated and inappropriate
material, add computers and additional stacks.
We are desperately seeking donations, Corporate gifts,
matching gifts, and any other source which might help us
fund this endeavor. If you have any information or sources
to assist, please call.
