Champions! Our NC baseball team defeated Boynton Middle School (New Ipswich, NH) 9-2 to win the Tri-County Athletics Division 4 Championship! Starting pitcher Peter Meconi kept the Boynton offense in check as he pitched 6 strong innings, only allowing 2 runs in the title game, before Johnny Mantone came in to close out the game. “Peter threw a great game for us. He was able to keep their hitters off balance, and make the big pitch when we needed it most,” said Head Coach Paul Williams. “We knew the heart of their order was coming up again, and we trusted that Johnny could make the right pitches for us at the end, and that is exactly what happened.”
The Wildcat offense had strong performances from 8th graders Peter Wilson, Jake O’Connor, Logan Vogel and Will Nardone. “We have a team that can generate a lot of offense, and today was just another example of that,” said Coach Williams.
The Wildcats finished the regular season with an 8-1 record, and were able to clinch the #1 seed in the playoffs, and secure home field throughout. “It was a great environment, and to have so many of the students and teachers come out to support the boys was great to see. The team wanted this so badly, and for them to win in front of the home fans was really special,” said Assistant Coach Art Meconi after the game. This championship crown is the first in fourteen years for the Nashua Catholic baseball program. The remaining members of the Nashua Catholic team are Trevor Labrecque, Alex Collins, Pierce Beaulieu, Ambrose Rockwell, Sam Fox, Ryan Arnesen, Sam Ronzio, Connor Lennon, Jake Boudreau, Sam Franco, and Kyle Young.
