The Lady Wildcat soccer team picked up right where they left off as they opened their 2018 campaign with a big shutout victory. Coming off an impressive 2017 campaign, ultimately leading to a Tri-County Championship, it was clear that the team wanted to continue rolling with the success.
The season opened up with our girls on the road facing The Derryfield School in Manchester. The Lady Wildcats jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back. Leading the offensive attack was 8th grader Hailey Barker who netted four goals in the opener. In the net, Emma-Kate Lingley recorded his first career shutout and held the Derryfield offense in check. “This is a much different team than last year, but the girls are here and working hard to improve every day”, said second year coach Joe Manzoli.
The Lady Wildcats, who graduated 11 eighth graders last year, are coming back with essentially a whole new team, containing only 4 players from last year’s championship run. “The experience isn’t as deep as it was last season, but we have girls who really want to work, and it sure is great to get that first win under our belts. There is still a lot of work to do, but I like the direction that we are headed” said Manzoli.
