Trinity High School Open House for 6th and 7th Graders

Trinity High School, 581 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH is hosting an open house for 6th and 7th graders on Sunday, May 22, 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.  There is also a practice exam offered to 7th graders on Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 – 11:30 A.M.  For more information, please contact the Admissions Office at 668-1779.

TerraNova Assessments and NCEA A.C.R.E. Results

During the month of April, our students completed a series of standardized tests to assess their progress in academic subjects, cognitive development, and religious education.  We have received their results and would like to share them with you.  The individual student results will be available for pick-up at the Parent Meeting on Wednesday evening, May 25, at 7:00 P.M.  Mrs. McFadden and I will present the results, what they mean, and how we use them in curriculum planning.  If you prefer, with your written permission, your student’s reports can be sent home after that date.  All results not distributed by the close of school in June will be mailed home with final report cards.

Graduation

Please note the times for the Awards Assembly, rehearsal, Mass, and Graduation listed above.  Mrs. McFadden will be sending information regarding Graduation under a separate cover letter.  Please support us in modeling behavior for this wonderful event with the dignity and respect that it deserves.

Book Sale

On Tuesday, June 21, we will hold a book sale to sell our inventory of textbooks.  See times listed above.  NC will accept cash or checks for payment.  Credit card purchases are not available.  Any books left unsold after that date will be available on a first come, first served basis throughout the summer.  For most of July, the NC summer hours for book sales are 8:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M., Monday through Thursday.  (The school is closed completely during the week of July 4.  Please see the Quarter 4 Report Card newsletter for August hours.)  We are in the process of assembling lists of required texts including the identifying numbers known as ISBNs.  We will distribute the lists upon completion.  While we should have an adequate number of used books for sale, it may be desirable to purchase new texts instead.  We will provide you with that resource as well before June 21.  Eighth grade textbooks will be collected from students on Friday, June 10.  Seventh grade textbooks will be collected from students on Wednesday, June 15.  Students who fail to return texts or who have rendered them unusable will be assessed for new textbooks.

City of Nashua SummerFun

Dear Students-

The SummerFun Committee is requesting the participation of Nashua Catholic Regional Junior High School students in their annual award winning SummerFun Festival.  Your participation will be in face-painting or stamping on August 20 from 12:00 – 3:00 P.M.  The events planned for this day are called “Children’s Day”.  This is a great way to begin adding community service hours to your portfolio and also have a fantastic time helping children enjoy the experience.  If you are interested please call the school office for further instructions.

Thank You!

Norman Reynolds

Committee Volunteer

Bishop Leo E. O’Neil Memorial Golf Outing

Box Tops for Education

A hearty THANK YOU to Mrs. Carlson for coordinating this effort over the past two years!  A hearty WELCOME to Mrs. Dupont for taking over in September.  Please continue to collect the Box Tops over the summer and submit in September!

From the Athletic Office

Boys and Girls Lacrosse is a big hit.  Thank you to those students who are playing and representing Nashua Catholic.  Good stuff!  Thank you also to the Horn and Mendenhall families for their generous support of the lacrosse programs.

Baseball – the boys are having another solid season.  They are currently 6-2 in conference and 12-6 overall.  The team had a great experience playing in Holman Stadium over spring break.  We would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to Mr. Rich Loftus for his coaching efforts during Coach E’s absence.

Softball – the girls had a rough start this spring, but seem to have worked out the kinks lately.  The pitching and fielding are improving with each game.

The baseball and softball teams play Pennichuck Middle School on Thursday, May 19, at the school fields.  They also take on Elm Street Middle School on Friday, May 20.  The boys play at North Common (behind Holman Stadium) and the girls play at Lyons Field (Marshall and Allds Streets).  Game time for all games is 4:00 P.M.  Come out and support your classmates.

Track – the team has a big city meet Tuesday, May 17, at 4:00 P.M. at Fairgrounds Middle School.  The state meet is on Wednesday, June 1, at Alvirne High School.  The coaching staff sees a lot of promise in the boys’ running and high jump events and the girls’ distance running, discus and high jump events.

The Golf team is being led by some solid 8th grade play.  We have also seen some good rounds from a few 7th graders.  We still have seven matches before the League Championships on June 6.

Spring Awards Night is set for Tuesday, June 7, at 7:00 P.M.

Fall sports sign-ups for those attending North or South High Schools will take place the week of June 14, 2005.  Please read the Telegraph for more information.

From the Development Office

The Fashion Show is in full swing - tickets are still available: $12 in advance and $15 at the door.  We again have some great silent auction items – restaurant gift certificates, autographed baseballs, Red Sox World Series program book, week-end get away, hand made garden stone, Adirondack yard chairs, and radio/CD players, just to name a few.

We will be hosting our First Annual Golf Outing.  The date is August 4, 2005 at Souhegan Woods Golf Course.  Keep the date open, it’s sure to be a fun day.  Registration forms will be out the next couple of weeks, watch your mail!

Summer Sports Schools have been confirmed.  Basketball will be offered to Boys, grades 5-8, the week of June 27 – July 1.  Girls, grades 5-8, July 11-15 and a Coed week grades 3 and 4, July 18-22.  Girls’ softball, grades 6-8 will be July 25 – 29.  Boys’ baseball, grades 4-6 will also be the week of July 25-29.  Coed soccer for grades 6-9 will be July 18 – 22.  This will once again be in conjunction will Elite UK Soccer.  All brochures are available in the office.  We will be mailing brochures out to everyone who attended last year this week.

Graduates and Relocating Students

All eighth graders and any seventh graders who are moving to another school must return the purple Release of Records forms to Mrs. Coker immediately.  We must have these completed forms before we can send your records to your next school.

New York Trips

The itinerary for the trips was included in the last report card newsletter.  We were able to reschedule the eighth grade trip that was canceled due to the funeral of Pope John Paul II.  The students will be in uniform (baseball caps are ok and optional).  There may be time for to visit the gift shop, so a small amount of cash may be useful.  Walkmans and IPods and CD players will be allowed on the bus.  Please leave the DVD and portable televisions and laptops at home.

As the sun continues to make its play for greater presence in the sky, we can all look forward to a successful conclusion to our school year.  Thank you for sending your children to us.  Happy Spring!

Peace,

Sandra Hillyard

Principal
