TerraNova Assessments and NCEA A.C.R.E. ResultsDuring the month of April, our students completed a series of standardized tests to assess their progress in academic subjects, cognitive development, and religious education. We have received their results and would like to share them with you. The individual student results will be available for pick-up at the Parent Meeting on Wednesday evening, May 25, at 7:00 P.M. Mrs. McFadden and I will present the results, what they mean, and how we use them in curriculum planning. If you prefer, with your written permission, your student’s reports can be sent home after that date. All results not distributed by the close of school in June will be mailed home with final report cards. GraduationPlease note the times for the Awards Assembly, rehearsal, Mass, and Graduation listed above. Mrs. McFadden will be sending information regarding Graduation under a separate cover letter. Please support us in modeling behavior for this wonderful event with the dignity and respect that it deserves. Book SaleOn Tuesday, June 21, we will hold a book sale to sell our inventory of textbooks. See times listed above. NC will accept cash or checks for payment. Credit card purchases are not available. Any books left unsold after that date will be available on a first come, first served basis throughout the summer. For most of July, the NC summer hours for book sales are 8:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M., Monday through Thursday. (The school is closed completely during the week of July 4. Please see the Quarter 4 Report Card newsletter for August hours.) We are in the process of assembling lists of required texts including the identifying numbers known as ISBNs. We will distribute the lists upon completion. While we should have an adequate number of used books for sale, it may be desirable to purchase new texts instead. We will provide you with that resource as well before June 21. Eighth grade textbooks will be collected from students on Friday, June 10. Seventh grade textbooks will be collected from students on Wednesday, June 15. Students who fail to return texts or who have rendered them unusable will be assessed for new textbooks. Baseball – the boys are having another solid season. They are currently 6-2 in conference and 12-6 overall. The team had a great experience playing in Holman Stadium over spring break. We would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to Mr. Rich Loftus for his coaching efforts during Coach E’s absence.
Softball – the girls had a rough start this spring, but seem to have worked out the kinks lately. The pitching and fielding are improving with each game.
The baseball and softball teams play Pennichuck Middle School on Thursday, May 19, at the school fields. They also take on Elm Street Middle School on Friday, May 20. The boys play at North Common (behind Holman Stadium) and the girls play at Lyons Field (Marshall and Allds Streets). Game time for all games is 4:00 P.M. Come out and support your classmates.

The coaching staff sees a lot of promise in the boys’ running and high jump events and the girls’ distance running, discus and high jump events.
